Annecy Festival Food
Festival Fun in Annecy
The second Saturday of October is a big day for the small french town of Annecy located in the French Alps. It is on this day that the farmers bring their animals down from the mountains for the winter. The whole town gathers to celebrates the end of summer with traditional food, music and a parade of animals. I got to experience this festival for myself this year and of course my favorite thing was the food!
Tartiflette
Tartiflette was the most popular dish for this festival. You could find Tartiflette being sold on almost every street corner. You could even watch it be made in huge skillets like the one above. The main ingredients of this dish are potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardon and onions. It was absolutely amazing. This simple dish had so much flavor to it. To make tartiflette for yourself click here.
Homemade Apple Juice
To go with the tartiflette they were making homemade apple juice. It was really entertaining to watch them make the juice. Watch the video below! I had never seen apple juice being produced before. The juice was tasty and made the perfect beverage to sip on at the festival.
Annecy is a beautiful town worth a visit. It is the perfect day trip destination from cities like Lyon and Geneva. The town is surrounded by mountains and has the most peaceful lake to explore. Besides festival food Annecy also has tasty restaurants to sit down and enjoy dishes such as tartiflette and fondue.
