Food Guide to Prague
Prague
This week I spent several days in the city of Prague. I was not only blown away by the history of this city but the food! I ate at several traditional Czech restaurants and I am going to share my experience with you.
History
Prague was founded in the 9th century and has endured many political changes since then. In 1918 when Czechoslovakia was founded as a new country Prague was declared its capital. This lasted until 1993 when the Czech Republic became an independent country. Currently, Prague is a member of the European Union and has a growing economy. This growing economy makes Prague the perfect attraction for tourists and food lovers.
Lunch
Velkoprevorsky Mlyn also known as the “fairytale” restaurant was by far my favorite restaurant of the
trip.
It looks like you are eating in a fairy tale world. With an abundance of natural plants and flowers it sets
the stage nicely for the fresh, all natural meals you are about to experience.
It is also situated right next to the main river that runs through Prague.
For my main course I had spaghetti with fresh burrata cheese and cherry tomatoes.
I’m a big fan of pasta to begin with but the burrata cheese on top added so much flavor
I started out the meal with an array of sausages. Each one had a unique flavor but it was really
the mustard sauce that pulled it all together. The sauce combined with sausage made for an exceptional
appetizer.

For dinner I went to the traditional Czech restaurant U Kroka. U Kroka has been around since
1895 and is a highly respected restaurant in Prague.

I had the Czech dish of beef dumplings and cream sauce for my main course. After finishing my meal I knew why this restaurant has been around for over 100 years. The beef dumplings were amazing. The cream sauce pulled it all together adding the right amount of flavor.
Dessert
For dessert I had the Missa Cake.
This rich chocolate cake was a great way to end
my meal atU Kroka.
